Your 1-Stop Supplier & Installer of all surfaces

Alberta is too large and varied for one standard base design. A residential turf area in Calgary, an exposed court in Lethbridge, and a sports field in Edmonton may use similar product categories, but the excavation, drainage, aggregate, and maintenance requirements can be very different.
Southern Alberta projects may need to account for chinook-driven temperature changes, dry periods, strong wind exposure, or intense sun, depending on the location. In Calgary and Lethbridge, repeated winter temperature shifts can make drainage especially important. Medicine Hat brings its own mix of sun, dry conditions, and winter weather. We assess the actual property rather than assuming every southern Alberta site behaves the same way.
Red Deer and Edmonton can experience longer cold periods and significant spring snowmelt. Base stability, grading, and drainage remain central to the design, but the final profile comes from the site conditions and intended use, not a city-wide formula.
Soil and subgrade conditions also vary across Alberta. Some sites have clay-rich or moisture-sensitive soils, while others present different excavation and drainage considerations. We review those conditions before finalizing the base so the surface, foundation, and water-management plan work together.

Surface Suppliers coordinates design, civil preparation, drainage, surfacing, and finishing within one project scope. That keeps the base construction, surface selection, and related components aligned from the beginning. After handover, we provide warranty information and maintenance guidance based on the products and completed work.

Chinooks can swing temperatures by 30°C or more in a matter of hours. That rapid cycling freezes and thaws water in the sub-base far more frequently than a standard seasonal freeze-thaw. A base designed for one deep freeze and one spring thaw will underperform in chinook country. We engineer southern Alberta bases with drainage layers that remove water from the base quickly enough to prevent repeated freeze-expansion damage.
Yes. Edmonton has deeper frost penetration and a longer sustained cold period than Calgary. Calgary’s challenge is rapid, repeated chinook cycling; Edmonton’s is deep, sustained frost. Both require careful base engineering, but the aggregate profiles and drainage configurations differ between the two cities.
Yes, significantly. Most of settled Alberta sits on expansive clay that swells when saturated and contracts when it dries or freezes. We assess clay conditions at each site and use sub-base designs that separate the surface from clay movement below.
CSA Z614 governs playground surfaces across Canada, including Alberta. We design pour-in-place rubber and EPDM systems to the required fall-height specifications and provide full compliance documentation for every playground project.
Yes. We supply bulk turf, shock pad, and infill to Alberta-based landscapers, installers, and municipalities at contractor pricing, by pallet or project quantity.
